CHELTENHAM HOUSE

1978 - 2010

1978 / Extended in 2010

The traditional Aussie glassed in verandah or sunroom was the inspiration behind the planning of this house. The living area flows around a courtyard deck and out into the garden.

Designed within an established garden, every room of this passive solar house engages with the garden and the north-east aspect. The long narrow plan draws in the valley breeze to provide cross ventilation.

A void in the bedroom hallway acts as a thermal chimney exhausting warm air through first floor louvre windows.

The passive design is supported through employment of rain water harvesting and a 6.3 kW solar system.

Services provided: Brief development, design, development application, tender documentation, and contract administration.
