Working within the existing building envelope, the facility provides state of art research laboratories for carbon analysis, microbial respirometry, water characteristics, ancillary preparation and support rooms, and a project based learning room.

A design solution of modular, movable benching and overhead services pendants in the Carbon Analysis laboratory was developed with the user group, to enable reconfiguration of the laboratory according to changing research program requirements.

Whilst the climate change laboratories formed the major component of the project, building upgrade work including provision of lift access to all levels; upgrading to current building code requirements added to the complexity of the project.
