DEPARTMENT OF ATTORNEY GENERAL AND JUSTICE - BLACKTOWN COURT HOUSE

2003 - 2005

This was our first courthouse project and hence another learning curve for the office.

The NSW Government had budgeted for a major upgrade to Blacktown Court House, to provide a third courtroom, new entrance foyer, security screening, new public enquiry area, interview and legal aid rooms, and office accommodation.

The existing building, although cutting-edge architecture when designed in the 1960s, was set back from the street frontage on a tight site. The accommodation requirement and a brief to enhance the street presence necessitated building in front of the existing structure. This was achieved whilst respecting the scale of the original courthouse.

Services provided: Brief development, design, tender documentation, and contract administration.
