Moss Vale Civic Centre is home to Wingecarribee Shire Council's administration centre, library, theatrette and council chambers.
The combination of flat roof and box gutter design of the 1980s building gave rise to the centre being plagued with water ingress issues, whilst a central courtyard around which the building was planned, served as a circulation barrier.
To resolve these issues, a shallow pitch hipped roof was designed to span over the existing roof and courtyard, thereby allowing the building to remain operational during construction. The former courtyard becoming a double height, skylight, internal atrium.
This soaring, light filled atrium has become a community hub, drawing together the service centre, library and theatrette. It is a multi-purpose space, meeting place, exhibition space, concert space, and repository of historic memorabilia.
