Sutherland Court House is a postmodern building that would have been fit for purpose when designed and constructed. Development of court-related services and functions in the intervening years meant the building required extensive internal reconfiguration, and a small extension to accommodate expansion of public areas, a new customer service area, interview rooms, general office accommodation, and staff and public amenities.
In addition to this, was replacement of air conditioning, energy efficiency upgrades, and upgrading to current building code legislation. In short, a major refurbishment undertaken within tight budgetary constraints.
The challeng here was satisfying the brief developed in consultation with courthouse user groups, and delivering building upgrading works deemed necessary to meet current building codes.
Services provided: Brief development, design, tender documentation, and construction phase services.
